#20YearsOfPWC

GivingTuesday 2022 is For The Birds!

GivingTuesday is November 29th, 2022 - and this year, we’re celebrating all things bird! Join us in giving back to our feathered friends:

  • Meet our THREE new raptors… and donate to vote on your favorite names for them!

  • Learn simple steps you can take at home to protect wild birds and their habitats.

  • Take advantage of donation matching on GlobalGiving by giving on November 29th.

  • Get involved with Piedmont Wildlife Center’s conservation efforts, like our sneaker recycling drive and Triangle Turtle Trekkers citizen science project.

  • Help us raise a total of $3,333 to unlock an additional match of $3,000 - enough to feed all three new birds throughout 2023 AND 2024!

Help us soar past our $3,333 goal this GivingTuesday! Join our newsletter list or follow us on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter for conservation tips, unique ways to support PWC, and exclusive hints about our new avian additions… then mark your calendar for GivingTuesday on November 29th, 2022!

PWC is turning 20... and YOU'RE invited to the party!

Celebrate 20 years of nature connection - and raise a glass to the next 20!

Join us at the Durham Armory on Friday, January 20th (7:30-10:00 PM) to celebrate two decades of nature connection. Enjoy live bluegrass music, heavy hors d’oeuvres, door prizes, animal meet-and-greets, and more as we tell the story of PWC’s journey from a small wildlife hospital to an award-winning environmental education nonprofit serving thousands each year.

Early bird tickets ($75/person) available until December 1st, when general admission will become $100/person. VIP tickets ($150/person) include reserved seating at our VIP tables, plus early admission at 6:30 PM for drinks with PWC Executive Director Karen McCall and PWC founder Bobby Schopler.

Can’t make it in person? You can support the next 20 years of conservation, education, and citizen science by making a donation or purchasing 20th anniversary merchandise at the link below!

All proceeds will directly benefit Piedmont Wildlife Center’s award-winning programs to make sure we can continue educating, inspiring, and connecting people with nature for the next 20 years… and beyond!

August is Support Through The Seasons, PWC's monthly donor drive!

At Piedmont Wildlife Center, we’re all about connecting people with nature, whether through an up-close encounter with an owl or an afternoon spent splashing in the mud. We believe these small moments are what instill a big passion for protecting the environment in the next generation. With your help, we can continue spreading this passion for generations to come.

Introducing Support Through The Seasons, PWC's monthly donor drive! For the entire month of August, we are offering additional perks for new or increasing monthly donors. With updated donor incentives, special drive-exclusive gifts, and a Zoom meet-and-greet for monthly donors on September 1st featuring a sneak peak at our newest Ambassador Animal, there's never been a better time to join PWC's monthly donor program.

Learn more about our monthly donor program below. Thank you for your #SupportThroughTheSeasons!

We had a "hoot" at our Summer Solstice Reunion!

A huge thank-you to all who attended our Summer Solstice Reunion last Saturday, June 25th! It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces while enjoying good food and even better conversations.

We had around 55 people join us - wow! We only wish we'd had time to catch up with everyone who attended to share our gratitude for being part of our Piedmont community. We hope everyone had as much fun as we did! Shout out to PWC admin intern Alex and friend Katie for grilling the burgers and hot dogs to perfection.

During the event, we asked people to fill our "memory jar" with their favorite PWC memories. Scroll down to see some of our favorite responses!

Did you take any fabulous photos on Saturday? We'd love to see them! Tag us on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter - or send them to us directly at admin@piedmontwildlifecenter.org! We also invite you to share your PWC story with us.

Thanks again for joining us this weekend. We hope you stop by for a visit soon… or join us for our next 20th anniversary celebration event!

What's your favorite PWC memory?

  • Visiting Miracle on Saturday mornings :)

  • We got married here! – Dwight and Alyssa

  • We eloped at the amphitheater! – Alyssa and Dwight

  • Parsley (aka Thumper) stomping her feet when I touched her favorite toy. Adorable attitude!

  • My favorite memory of PWC is the old tree swing. The hair-raising jumps, the feeling of weightlessness, the challenges to complete for a push, and adrenaline rush... I miss it a lot. – Nicolas

  • A Walk to Nowhere: I recall being blindfolded and led to a part of the park I had never been to before. The group I was with was then told to find our way back to camp. I enjoyed how well this helped us bond. – Tinder Wolf

  • Seeing Ramzi catch a snake!

Join us for our Summer Solstice Reunion, June 25!

Join us on Saturday, June 25th from 4:30-7:30 PM at Leigh Farm Park for our inaugural Summer Solstice Reunion. Reunite with old friends, make new ones, and celebrate the start of summer as we eat good food, play camp games, and share our love of nature connection.

This is a potluck celebration, so bring your favorite snack, side dish, or dessert! We'll provide hamburgers and hotdogs (including vegan options) and grill them for everyone to enjoy.
