Volunteering at Piedmont Wildlife Center

PLEASE NOTE: We do not fulfill court-ordered community service hours.

Get involved in a great cause!  Help conserve wildlife, build community, and share your passions and interests at Piedmont Wildlife Center. Meet a few of our current volunteers here.

We can often schedule volunteer work days for clubs, businesses, and other groups. If you are a team lead looking for group opportunities please get in touch with jenna@piedmontwildlifecenter.org.

Service days are single-day events focused on maintenance, building projects, and park beautification.

Volunteers for service day events must be 16 or older. Anyone under the age of 18, must volunteer with an adult.

Due to the physical demands of volunteer activities and the hazards of working outside, all volunteers must sign a waiver.

Our husbandry volunteers assist with feeding, enclosure cleaning, and enrichment for our animal ambassadors (reptiles, mammals, and more) or our raptors (hawks, owls, and a raven).

Anyone interested in our husbandry position must attend our virtual volunteer orientation.

All Husbandry Volunteers must be 18 or older.

PWC is a part of the Adopt-A-Highway program in North Carolina. Many of our ambassadors are with us as a result of litter. Sign up to help protect our native wildlife and beautify Durham by becoming a Pumpkin Protector.

Please note that AAH opportunities are for those 12 years or older. Participants between the ages of 12-17 years must volunteer with a parent or guardian who is at least 18 years old. A youth participation release form must be signed before the event. All participants must sign the AAH Program Agreement on the day of the event. Registration is required.
