We’ve been working hard alongside experts from WildTrack and the UC Berkeley School of Information to develop a brand-new online platform for our citizen science project, Turtle Trekkers. Now, submitting photos is easier than ever, PLUS photos will now be analyzed using Artificial Intelligence—a major breakthrough for the project!
WHAT’S NEW
STREAMLINED DATA ENTRY
On TurtleTrekkers.org, we’ve developed a streamlined process for submitting data—upload photos and enter location, date, and other information all at once. Location can be recorded automatically or manually if submitting a sighting retroactively.
INTERACTIVE LEADERBOARDS
See how your turtle trekking skills stack up! Leaderboards keep track of entries and display the highest-ranking users on the website, both all-time and in the last 30 days.
SIMPLIFIED PHOTOGRAPHY
No more rulers or complicated positioning! Photos of turtles at varying angles and distances will now be accepted—just be sure the entire turtle is captured in the frame. The more photos you take, the better!
